June 8 Big Magic Anagama:
We will begin loading Saturday February 28, 2026, and finish on Monday and light the kiln around 12 noon. After candleing over night we proceed at 50 degrees per hour. On Wednesday the stoking and temperature begins to increase. The firing will end sometime on Friday night or Saturday with finishing the soda kiln off. We use two pounds of soda and get great coverage throughout the kiln.
New to the process is the requirement of cookies if you are glazing your work. Cookies are shallow discs of clay that go under the work to keep glaze off the shelves. This saves the shelves, a lot of time grinding AND your work. We do not provide cookies, you must bring your own.
Option 3: $90/cubic ft.
Requirements:
- Work must be ready to load by 2 pm on February 28, 2026.
- An email will be sent out a few weeks prior to the firing date with important details regarding the loading day, glazing , and other relevant information.
